Archana Sharma is an architect with a specialisation in architectural conservation and ten years of experience. Through her association with different organizations, she has worked on preparation of conservation plans for several sites situated in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Srinagar, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. She has also contributed in the preparation of built heritage listing of historic areas such as Hajipur, Bhagalpur, Jalandhar district, and Yamunanagar. She has been a part of BHCA since 2019 where she has been an integral part of projects like Braj Development Plan, Preparation of Conservation Plan for Jagannath Temple, Machhkund (Dholpur), etc.
Apart from the field work focussed on heritage conservation, she has a keen interest in research and academics. She was selected for the prestigious UNESCO – Sahapedia Research Fellowship in 2018 where she researched on intricacies of ‘Manjusha Art of Anga Pradesh’ and her articles were published on the website of Sahapedia. She has also been a recipient of Water Seekers’ Fellowship of 2022 where her research on ‘Synchronicity of Nature and Culture along Gandak River’ was appreciated and published on the platform of Living Water Museum (LWM) and Social Policy Research Foundation (SPRF).
Arjun Sharma is a fourth-year B.Arch student at AIT School of Architecture and Planning, Knowledge Park–I. He has a strong interest in functional and creative architectural design, with skills in AutoCAD, Revit, Enscape, Photoshop, Canva, and MS Office. His experience includes planning, drafting, and architectural visualization. Arjun is passionate about sustainable and innovative design solutions and has actively participated in design competitions, installations, and workshops. He is a detail-oriented and dedicated individual, known for blending practicality with aesthetics in his work.
Bindu B. Gowda is a conservation architect with experience in the documentation, conservation, and adaptive reuse of historic structures and cultural heritage sites. Her work is rooted in a hands-on, field-based approach, with a strong emphasis on on-site engagement, detailed documentation, and context-sensitive conservation planning. She has been involved in projects that require a careful understanding of traditional construction systems, material behavior, and the layered evolution of historic buildings.
Her practice focuses on integrating traditional knowledge with contemporary conservation methodologies, ensuring that interventions are both technically sound and culturally appropriate. She has a particular interest in working with traditional building techniques and materials, and in developing conservation strategies that respect the authenticity and integrity of heritage structures while enabling their continued use.
A graduate of the School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, Bindu is committed to learning through field experience and collaborative practice. She actively engages with multidisciplinary teams and values on-ground insights as a critical component of the conservation process.
Mr. M. C. Sharma is a retired conservation engineer with over 38 years of dedicated service in the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Beginning his career in 1977 as a Conservation Assistant in the Agra Circle, he steadily rose through the ranks to retire in 2015 as a Deputy Superintending Archaeological Engineer.
Throughout his career, he contributed extensively to the conservation, restoration, and administration of several significant historical monuments across Agra, Mathura, and Delhi. His work included key heritage sites such as Akbar’s Tomb, Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub Minar, Red Fort, and Jantar Mantar. He also held administrative responsibilities, supervised large-scale restoration projects, and managed operations across multiple districts.
With a diploma in Civil and Rural Engineering, Mr. Sharma has played a vital role in preserving India’s architectural heritage and has been associated with numerous high-profile assignments during his tenure.
Amar Nath Gupta is a retired Assistant Superintending Archaeological Engineer from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), who concluded his distinguished career on 30 June 2024 in the Agra Circle. With decades of hands-on experience in conservation, he has played a significant role in preserving India’s historic monuments.
Beginning his journey as a Conservation Assistant, Mr. Gupta executed numerous restoration and conservation projects across prominent heritage sites. His work spans iconic monuments such as Itimad-ud-Daulah Tomb, Ram Bagh, Chini Ka Rauza, Mehtab Bagh, Agra Fort, Jama Masjid, and the Taj Mahal, among others.
Over the years, he contributed to conservation efforts across multiple districts including Agra, Mathura, Etawah, Meerut, Saharanpur, and Farrukhabad. He was also involved in projects at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Fatehpur Sikri. After his promotion, he took on supervisory responsibilities, overseeing conservation work across several regions in the Agra Circle.
Mr. Gupta’s career reflects a deep commitment to safeguarding India’s architectural heritage through both fieldwork and administrative leadership.
Suhani Jain is an architectural intern and a fourth-year B.Arch student at AIT School of Architecture and Planning, Knowledge Park–I (AKTU, Lucknow).
She is particularly interested in heritage conservation, documentation, and contextual design. Her skill set includes AutoCAD, basic Revit, Photoshop, Canva, and MS Office tools such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Suhani is detail-oriented, sincere, and committed to delivering quality work. She actively participates in design competitions and workshops and is a responsible and dedicated learner, eager to grow and contribute professionally.
